Pat (who, btw came to be known as "Archie") and Sue's daughters are Lisa and Kat. We all still stay in touch. If there is someone you would like to reach out to please let me know privately and I will attempt to contact them to let them know.

A number of people whose names or handles you may have known yourself who were on staff while I attended the school (apologies if I overlooked anyone): BobDog, Darcie, Dean, Dick Damone, David and Casey, Matt, Barb, John DeCocoa, Romaine.

I am trying to be as helpful as possible while also keeping in perspective people's privacy and the fact that we're out here on the big ole world wide web. I am sure you understand.-

BTW, Stonesoup School, as we knew it, in Crescent City, is, as far as I know, now closed, even tho , the last time I looked the Stonesoup School website was still live. The Jacob School is affiliated with the old school and is located in the Orlando area. -RH

Wow did those pictures bring me back! Thanks for the post. Yes, I too felt my years at Stonesoup were memorable and a great experience.
How lucky for you to have flushable toilets! What counselors were there when you were there? Also, do you remember Pat & Sue's daughters name? Have you had any contact with the school since you left. I have thought about driving up there to check it out since I live so close now (Gainesville). Good to hear from ex-Stonesoupers.

Thanks all for your comments- I have to say that for myself, under the circumstances whereby I was introduced to, and subsequently attended Stonesoup School, that the experience was responsible for helping me learn and embrace many life lessons.

Lynn- I attended the school during the time when the "Big Dome" was under construction (I helped with its construction) to its partial completion (it seemed to be an ongoing "work in progress"), in any case it was operational at the time of my graduation and in fact was used for the graduation ceremony ('76) which included myself, Lori Bickford, Cindy Jentis and Randy Welle!

I also remember building a septic tank for the "flushie" toilets (which we built)

Graduated SSS,Class of 1974, went on to become... a very decent human bean, so far.
I accredit SSS with teaching me good from bad, and helping create another social non conformist, which pleases me, to no end.Love to all~

I attended in '71 - we were the first class in the 'school'. We were in the house in Longwood owned by Pat & his wife. Rick & Valerie were also counselors. Eventually we built buildings on the property in Crescent City - GeoDomes made of cardboard with neoprene coating and also the kitchen and dining room. I left after a couple of years along with Janice, Jimmy, Xan & Rick. I would be interested in how the school changed after we left.
